An Interview With

Stephanie Reef

How do you define happiness?

For me happiness is a state of mind, its not its something that you have to reach something from a different place. Happiness for me is a feeling an emotion and those can be addictions. You’re better off being at peace which is more of a neutral place with brings clarity and understanding.

What do I truly wish to achieve in my lifetime?

You know, it's hard to say in a sense what I'd like to achieve is to learn as much as I can.

What inspires you?

What inspires me is…living in a world and knowing that there is more to this physical world. We don’t know what’s out there and that makes it more interesting.

What lesson do I hope readers gain from your book?

The lesson I want to achieve and…I want them to realize they have a purpose, and they need to listen within. Discover what is in them. What is within them. Purpose. The only thing I can do…the divine spirit is…what their true purpose. Although society is necessary…we understand ourselves better than anyone else.

Why is this topic/theme so important to you?

Well again we kind of touched base on it. It’s vast, and there are so many facets that we can look into and achieve that is good for writing, books, and self-discovery. There's so much that still hasn’t been discovered.

Who/what has had the biggest impact on my work?

God. The divine source. The higher self within.

What is one change people could make to have a better life? What is a better life?

The one change they can do is spend 50 years…change their thoughts. They can take all the action they want to, but if they don’t change their mind, everything is futile. You want more of a productive life. You have your health you have your wealth. You have everything within and again a better life is having health, wealth, purpose, relationships, and a spiritual connection.

How do I balance creativity/artistry versus logic/reason?

Carefully. You have to be still. I can't force anything especially with creativity. Meditation brings clarity. If you have a creative mind then you have creative work.

What is something people should be more/less worried about?

Not knowing who they are. I think a lot of people find ourselves trying to fit into a mold especially as writers and artists. We worry about just losing ourselves, not finding our true purpose.

What one thing do I want my readers to learn from me?

I want them to learn how to think for themselves. I want them to learn about how to take 100% for their lives no matter where they are right now.

What is your research process like?

I have to do a lot of meditation, a lot of sitting still and I receive clairvoyant information. What most people would call information. There's a lot…if I get inspiration I'll look on the internet and open a book.

What do you think is the biggest obstacle that new writers face to be well known enough for success?

Their writing for other people. They need to write for themselves. Whatever they write they can share for the world…at least for non-fiction.

How can they stand out?

Don’t be afraid to take a risk. That’s the truth. When I first became a writer I played by the rules and that got me nowhere. You must not be afraid to approach people. Don’t be afraid.

Walt Disney once said ‘You're dead if you aim only for kids. Adults are only kids grown up, anyway’. Do you agree?

I do not. Adults should be more like kids, adults should be childlike to discover the wonders of the world as walt Disney already encompassed. I think walt Disney was a child himself, and adults today are too rigid.

What do you think is the kind of story that could reach most people? Do they need to?

I think the story we all need to reach is the one where were good to each other. There are so many stories we need to live by, especially the ones where were good to others.

What kind of audience do you intend to reach?

People who are struggling, people who have hit rock bottom. One reason I wrote this book is to reach people who are lost. I want to write a pamphlet and give it to people who are lost.

What kind of reactions do you expect from your readers?

All kinds of reactions. I want them to be angry. I want them to be indifferent. I want them to question things. I want them to feel hope. I want them to feel everything they can feel.

What important moments in your life have led you to being an author?

Well. My family. I come from a family of writers, but I didn’t start writing until my life started falling apart. I lost everything and I found nothing to do. That’s when I started journaling and the pieces came together. When we hit our lowest point we welcome the greatest change.

How would you help someone find their purpose?

You know we…I can't. I can’t help them find their purpose but I can't tell them...I can help them to go within. Let go and let God within them find their purpose.

How do you inspire other people to achieve productivity?

I can't. Being in the workforce, the restaurant business. You’re either productive or not. Being productive is within, and only the individual can help themselves.

How do you help people reflect?

I tell them to sit still. Turn technology off. Technology can hinder productivity. Be alone with nature, then amazing things will happen.
